SCOTT J. DAVENPORT is a native of Providence, Rhode Island and earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration (double major in Finance and Marketing) from the University of Rhode Island in 1990. Before entering law school, he worked for a year as a claims approver for a major insurance company. In 1994, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law, while simultaneously completing his MBA at the University of Tulsa College of Business Administration. During law school, he served as the Managing Editor for the Tulsa Journal of Comparative and International Law, clerked for a Federal Magistrate, clerked for a law firm and won the American Jurisprudence Award in Commercial Law and Transactions.

Scott began practicing law in Texas in 1994 with a Houston law firm in its litigation section. During his tenure there, he represented financial institutions, restaurants, corporations and other business entities in a variety of complex commercial disputes and personal injury defense matters. He has practiced law with the attorneys in this firm since 1998.

Scott is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has attained the highest rating (AV) from Martindale Hubbell. In 2006, H Texas Magazine recognized Scott as one of Houston's Top Lawyers for the People for personal injury litigation.

Successful Verdicts in Complex Cases for Plaintiffs and Defendants

Scott places a premium on hard work, being prepared and winning lawsuits. He has tried many cases to verdict, obtaining superior results for his clients. In addition to his extensive experience in handling a wide variety of personal injury cases, he has represented clients in litigation throughout the State of Texas involving patent and trademark infringements, nuisance claims, real estate disputes, stock fraud and breach of fiduciary duties, contractual disputes, promissory notes, insurance bad faith, breach of covenants not to compete, fraud, shareholder derivative claims, DTPA, and director and officer liability claims.

Scott's clients come from all across the United States and throughout Texas. Because of his experience as a trial attorney, he has been hired to take over cases from other law firms as trial approaches. His business background and education has allowed him to understand these complex business issues and obtain trial verdicts for both plaintiffs and defendants.

Scott has also helped many of his clients injured by the negligence of others recover millions of dollars against the wrongdoers. He has enjoyed tremendous success in lawsuits against our nations leading trucking companies, manufacturers, and businesses. He has an impressive record for standing up to and battling insurance companies for the wrongful denial of life insurance claims, fire claims, disability claims and uninsured/underinsured claims.

*CV, BV, and AV are registered certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards, and policies.
